Sidey & Tayside Fire & Rescue Highlight Hazards in the Home
Perth based company Sidey and
Tayside Fire and Rescue joined forces today (Wednesday 25th March) to
reinforce the importance of safety within the home.
In addition, there are fitted,
a wide range of “Telecare” products, as used by Perth & Kinross
Community Alarms Team.
The unit has been
built to replicate a domestic environment and is equipped with
simulated, but realistic hazards, ranging from home fire safety issues,
slip and trip hazards, general home safety, child safety and crime
Steve Hardy, Sidey’s
Commercial Sales Director commented – “With accidents in the home
accounting for 40% of all fatal accidents each year in the UK, promoting
home safety is a major priority to Sidey. When we were approached by
Tayside Fire and Rescue to donate products for their safety unit, we
were so impressed with the concept of the unit and the message it was
designed to promote, we thought that it would be a fantastic tool to
help us highlight the hazards within the home that are not always
necessarily obvious to people, especially hazards within the kitchen.
“Members of our project
team were also keen to take a tour of the unit so they could in turn
pass on the safety points highlighted by the Fire Brigade to the tenants
that they work with in the Perth & Kinross area”.
David Black, commented -“As Tayside Fire and Rescue’s Community Safety Officer for the Perth & Kinross area, I am delighted that Sidey are making the issue of home safety a priority. To ensure that each new kitchen they install comes complete with a safety information pack, really demonstrates that as a company they care about their local community.”
